Waterproof camera

http://www.amazon.com/Oly...s=olympus+tough+tg-820

This is the Olympus Tough TG 820.  Its 200 bucks plus tax, free shipping.  Anyone ever use one?  Primary uses for me would be regular family pics and also fishing.

Never used one of those. Know a few people that have the Nikon 16 mp waterproof camera and like it. About the same price

In my opinion, it's better to use one of the waterproof cases now available. They come in a variety of sizes and are fairly inexpensive. With those, you can chose the camera you want and still take underwater video and stills.

I grabbed this Dicapac case from Amazon for right around $20. I've been using it for a while, in all sorts of weather conditions, and it works well.

I use this case for my phone (which also has a pretty decent camera inside). It's only $15 delivered, and also serves to keep your phone dry while you're fishing, while still allowing you to use it.

Here's an example of a short underwater video I took with a Sony Cybershot (the quality is a bit degraded due to the process of compression, uploading and streaming):

The 820 is a good camera in my opinion. I have an earlier version - the Stylus 770SW which I trust more than the Pentax WG-1 which I bought for my Alaska trip last summer. My son got the 820 for the trip and he let me know about it when we saw that our guide up there who is on the water 16 hours a day and also guides the Lower Sacramento during the off season had the 820 which was beat to heck but still took great shots. That alone sold me on the Olympus series.
