Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission to sell multi-year fishing licenses December 1

Just a reminder - Pennsylvania anglers will be able to buy three- and five-year fishing licenses and trout stamps for the first time on Dec. 1. I haven't seen this posted yet, sorry if I missed it. I just heard about it today.

I think they could've offered a more substantial/attractive savings than just a couple bucks to get folks to commit in buying a 3/5 year license.  IMO poor marketing...either way doesn't matter to me - I buy regardless.

It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. If you buy over the counter there is a agents fee , but if you buy over the internet you don't pay one do you? A WCO told us that the only savings would be you would only have to pay that fee once.  It doesn't affect me I have a lifetime any how. But like Cro said looks like poor marketing to me also. But there again I don't have a degree in marketing!!

There will be days when fishing is better than ones optimistic forecast, others when it is far worse. Either is a gain over just staying home.

not the discount I was expecting... but it does lock in your price and save you from any increases over the next few years

I have to agree with this... not what I would hope for, but at least it is a start.  I like the way Virginia does theirs (other states may also, I just am familiar with Va and Md licensing) Virginia allows 'lifetime' licenses with amount based on the age you are when you get it.  (I think it is 5 yr increments on the fees)  They divide theirs into fresh and salt water  or a combo... Pa could do similar. And Virginia also offers the same deals to out of staters who are interested, which has to help their bottom line for tourism dollars and fish funds!  Pa sure doesn't seem too interested in being friendly to out of staters with their fees! I pay the same amount for a 1 yr combo license in Virginia as an out of stater as I do here in Pa for a residence license... seems something wrong with that!

I'll just stick with the 1 year, I'd never remember to get the new one in 5 years...

I'll just stick to one year.  Not enough incentive, plus who knows what can happen in future years.  Job change, health, etc.

1 year for me too.  I'm usually into saving a few bucks and buying in bulk.  But like mentioned above, give these guys any extra, and they'll find a way to spend it.  I'd rather not see 1 year of over the top pellet head stocking and 4 years of cuts to warm water management after to make up for it...

I also like the idea in VA that it is one year from the date of purchase and not the calendar year. The other is that you only need to have it in your possession and not displayed.

I think I'll get a 5-year. Just so I don't have to deal with it for a while, or more likely forget to get one until the last minute before my first trip each year.

I like the idea, I would also like a little more savings than $2.2677777 a year for a three year license. But it will save me the hassle of taking 5 mins to do it online I guess. Steps in the right direction. And I agree with KJ, your price is locked in anyways.

But then the wco's might have to walk out onto the ice or get out of their cars instead of waiting at the boat ramps for you to come off of the lake.
The PFBC does do a good job at most things, i will say that ! However, I hate seeing them stand in the parking lots waiting for me to come off of the ice. In 30 years of ice fishing, I've only ever seen one wco out on the ice.
At leat PA did change that for hunting licenses this year, maybe the PAFC could follow.

I agree, though I'd actually much prefer not to be bothered at all. In most of the states I fish in the U.S. there is no requirement to display your license. New York is quite strict with fishing regulations, and their yearly rule book could give IRS tax codes a run for their money, but even they don't require it. To emphasize the point: I remember when I worked in a tackle shop the catalog name for the pin on license holders was actually "PA display holders."
