'Stream Blowouts'

I was planning on going up tomorrow... but 'Sandy' has me thinkng I should change my plans.  Then I got thinking.... what do the Steelhead do when there is a blowout?
Where do they go?
Do they hang back in the lake and go on a feeding frenzy on the small stuff?
In other words... should I fish the lake mouths?
Do their hormones drive them upstream to spawn?
In other words... should I fish the streams?

Steelhead stay along the banks in slow moving frog water and large eddies, not anywhere near the fast rolling current.

I'd probably just stay home though.

i think they hang out at the pig pen and drink 24-7 till the water clears up. i was on the east side yesterday evening and the creeks werel getting higher and cloudier when i left.
the lake was rough coming in and there was a mud line a ways out.

I say go for it. 3 ounce sinker and a tandem rig with 2 intruder flies should slay 'em.

I went down, and checked 12 mile and 7 mile. Both were roaring and a nice chocolate color. It was actually cool to see water bank to bank on both creeks.  12 mile though had a buildup at the mouth from the waves, which may cause problems when the water goes down, 7 mile would be a great raft ride right now. 12 is too short. It looks like Thursday at the earliest for any east side creek.
