Thieves

This evening I went to pull my deer cam. Stolen. On my bosses property none the less
Last week there was a ladder stand also stolen on his property

There are kids trespassing on his property daily by riding quads and dirt bikes. I confronted them about 2 weeks ago and they took off.

Three weeks ago they went zipping by me and my boss call the state police. Took them a hour to show up and they were long gone. They are trespassing every night from 4 until dark. About 8 of them. Quads, bikes, and even a white truck. The police said they have to catch them in the act. THEY ARE THERE EVERY FREAKING NIGHT ITS NOT HARD. Well, anyways. What would you guys do? I'm fed up. Ready to put spike strips up to blow there tires but dont want to be in jail for manslaughter.

This is gonna be like taking candy from a baby

I'm going to put up my old ladder stand right on the trail where they ride their quads and bikes. Meanwhile i will be off in the distance with my video camera(and hopefully a officer) to watch it all go down.

Now I am debating if i should call the game commision.

game commission will be of NO help in your situation, unlesss the land is SGL where ATVs, etc are not allowed..... they are not breaking any hunting regulations... and the PGC does not do tresspassing unless a hunting violation, safety zone, or another PGC code is being broken.........

I've had 2 ladder stands stolen over the last 15yrs or so ,had a good idea who did it but couldn't prove it. I've hunted on my uncles property for 23 yrs now. Never had any problems until there was a disagreement between my son and another fellow ....just saying !! but couldn't prove anything, someone stole the stand but didn't have it pad locked & chained to the tree  so kinda my fault. Bought another one and the following year I have it chained to the tree but the ladder sections were not pad locked and someone stole them so the only thing left was the seat chained to the tree....I jumped the fellow who I thought did this and told him somebody is going to get hurt because I was tried of this crap.....Haven't had any problems since and they don't hunt there anymore either...I have a camera out too so now I think I might go check it out.....Good Luck....Oh ,Ya know the feeling about the dirt bikes & quads they're a pain in the butt.....they just don't care !!!

I've had several stands stolen in my day.  People who steal tree stands are low-life-scum-no-good-thieves and that's a fact.  (only exception being if someone puts a stand on your property w/o permission)

Put a climber on the base of the tree or a camera if your gonna sit on it, something a little easier for them to grab and get out.

The Lord has blessed us all today... It's just that he has been particularly good to me.

I lost a ladder stand the same way.  I chained the seat and top section to the tree so all thay could get was the bottom section and they had to bend the entire thing to get that.  I really dont get it.  One section (bent in a U shape) doesn't even do them any good. And they ruined the stand getting that.  I can tell you, I sincerely wish they tried using that bent up section they took and it broke and they fell and broke bones.  That is my hope.

    Eman-
Have used plastic coated steel cable with a hardened lock for  years connecting my steps to the Seat- The seat is also locked with a heavy chain and lock.
Might not stop a thief but at least the SOB gotta go home for a hacksaw or bolt cutters.
Only had one stolen like that then bumped the cable thickness way up-found another cut halfway through the heavy stainless cable. Was too much work for them i guess.

I was playing basketball in my drive way one day with my great nephew when the ball went into the neighbors yard. My neighbor came out and grabbed the ball and went back inside the house. She said, since it went in her yard it belongs to her. I don't get mad about very much, but this just irked me. I tried to talk to her and she didn't want to hear it. I didn't think the police needed to get involved with it. BUT, I noticed her kids bicycle was laying partly in my yard, so I took the bike for the exchange of the ball. She called the cops on me. She gave me the ball back and I gave her the bike back. It was wrong of me for doing it, especially in front of my great nephew.

Bottom line is the fact I wasn't going to play her game. Many things have come into my head to help you, but maybe try the local police department.
