Work had me relatively close to Yellow Creek yesterday, so I decided to see if I could trick any pike into biting.  I tried near the dam as BL had mentioned.  It looks like a great section from a boat, as the weed line was pretty hard to fish from shore.  The sun was beating down so hard, it made it uncomfortable to stick around for long.  I saw one really nice looking largemouth cruising, but no takers.  I decided to adventure below and escape the sun, I had done well there back in my IUP days too.  The cool water release had carp stacked up in the first pool, looked like Trout Run...  I ventured down the rocks to get a closer look, and see if there might be anything else hanging out.  I saw one large gill, but almost all carp and all big ones.  Probably wouldn't be much fun catching any, with almost nowhere to go.  Not really worth the challange of scaling the rocks.  I walked over to the spillway pool, which doesn't look like it had much water added all year...  A bunch of gills and a few bass cruising around.  It looked more like an aquarium than a fishing spot...  I walked down a bit, and hit the first pool where the two creeks meet.  First cast got a slab crappie.  I got all excited, thinking there was a school of them there.  Not the case, a bunch of <10" smallmouth to keep things a bit interesting, but not the school of crappie I was hoping for.  Fished the larger pool below it, with a rockbass, and nothing else.  I'm guessing the nice weather was a bit too nice for the pike anyway.  Although, getting into an area where I had better angles to fish weed beds probably would have helped.

Oh yeah, to those shore fishing, remember the orange hats / shirt ect. during hunting season.  I ran into a few hunters while out.  It's not rifle deer season and all, but it is hunting season, so do yourself a favor and wear something bright while in the woods this time of year.  Beige and white, probably isn't a good idea...

Srl, I don't know if you've found it yet, but the pfbc site has listing of all past stockings. You can search by county, and by species. A good idea for a new fisherman in the area to get an idea of what's around. You may not see some of the most common species; lm bass Sm bass, blue gill, crappie, and carp, but they're already pretty much everywhere(except Sm bass in most lakes), and breed on their own. You can do a search on the pfbc site, then cross reference this site with a search of the waterway of your choosing. A good way to get a head start on your local hot bites. And Google earth is your friend ;)

There are also links to articles on their sites, if you click on a species, ect.  A few good articles on Northern Pike hot spots and time of year to focus, ect.
