Wading jackets

After my encounter with the wind/rain/hail this past week, I am considering switching over to a waterproof wading jacket.  Can anyone recommend a good one?  Thanks.

Wading jackets are one of those "you get what you pay for" items

Yes Goretex is great. Essp the pro-shell
But there are other fabrics that are right there with it
Patagonia makes H2NO that is really nice

More important than the Goretex brand name is the layer construction
This gives you durability and breathability/waterproofness

Look for something that is 3 or 4 layer for best performance
But at that point you are looking at 200 and up
But that might not meet up with budgets of someone only using it 5 times a year to walk from 50ft from the lot to the stream on a path

Simms makes a Goretex jacket (2 layer) for 200
Reddington sonic seam jackets are badas

If you're not in the "hi-roller" class.....Gander Mountain Guide Series has a good gortex shell jacket that's affordable
 
i put 6-8  years of "heavy" use/abuse on mine .

I was in that storm wearing that frog tog jacket and it kept me dry when it was pouring buckets. Get a size large enough to layer underneath.

I've got a Simms Goretex that is impervious to the wind and rain...

thanks guys i do appreciate the feedback.  I am not a hi roller, unless u consider high class eating at the Olive Garden once a month
I am leaning towards something llbean because of the guarantee.  i had leaky waders after 2 years and they returned them no questions asked.

at one time this was true
but they push some imported junk just like everyone else
 
I'd rather buy a top tier product from some other company... than a bottom tier product from simms

!  Without a doubt make sure it’s gore Tex, especially when fishing Erie. Once cool weather sets in I wear one all the time  as a wind breaker against the chill factor and never have to worry if it’s going to rain so it serves a dual purpose especially near the lake.

The green Hodgman one that Poor Richards carries is pretty nice. I've had mine for years. Lots of pockets, no need for a vest, plus if its not raining,m it really cuts the wind.
