what's the most steelies you've caught in one spot at one time?
not in a weekend, not in a day that you returned to that spot .
But one hole or run you fished continuously without moving more than a 100ft
what's your record??

my first day flyfishing. I only landed one fish, but I lost 42 of Deetz flies...all on fish.
I don't always snag fish, but when I do... I choose Little Cleos I'm the best looking smartest snagging poacher alive...

100 ft can cover a lot of stream features/holding area on an Erie crick.
For me, maybe 5 or 6.

I lost count once. Probably 30 or so in about 2-3 hours. Went through 2 containers of wax worms, then got a few more on a home made jig. I don't think I went 2 drifts without hooking up. I came to find out I was fishing a private section. Thought it was a little odd nobody was around and there were Sooo many fish. Oops :)

53. I went through about 3 boxes of 00buckshot though.  I caught 13 out of the hole below the parking lot at Uncle John's Elk Creek Campground two years ago in February (or maybe March). I never travelled more than 50 yards.

3 yrs. ago at Follies behind their store...20 on a cream ss and a 14 caddis. Ended with 31 total...best I ever had...:)

ALOT, ticket is to keep changin bait.
Usually start out wit the shark hook tipped with a corn niblet,
followed by a giant ball of skeen shot from a roland martin patented rocket fisherman.
Gets em every time

( 17 ) standing in a long deep pool on Elk Creek about 2 1/2 hours , ( 30 + ) at Trout run all night mix of browns, coho, steel sitting in the back of a friend's boat docked in the pig pen between the 3 of us we caught upwards of 100 , The poor fish warden watched us for over an hour and thought he had a bust but all were released !

I had a day about 3 years ago at the nut opening day of deer season with little fishing pressure and high green water was getting bit every few minutes of jigs and sacks. Also had a day last October were I brought about 60 sacks with me and left with an empty bag and almost each sack accounted for a fish. Catch the right drift, with a big influx of fish, with low fishing pressure, and you'll have a day where you can't keep them off

I get bored after 10 or so and move. Finding them is the fun now; and watchin the Queen{or any other fishing partner} hammer them. The most..I'll never say..just a story....WF

I hear ya. The occasional "perfect" day where your numbers are only limited by the number of eggsacs or r"right" fly you have with you. Or the amount of time landing, or waiting for someone else to land ech fish can be fun. After a while it becomes mundane though ( usually takes me more than 10 ). Then it's time to move on, or start experimenting to see what else you can get them to hit.
How many I'm not sure. But I've had day on the lower end of the cascade hole where fresh fish were contantly moving through. That literally 8 of 10 casts resulted in a fish, and the number of sacs in your container was the number of fish you caught.

I've been fortunate enough to fish a good bit over the years
during the hay days of the late '90s/early'00s i made the trip 2 to 3 times a week.
Fish that often over the amount of fish in the creeks during that time period , and even a guy like me gets lucky a time or two
Truth is though, when they're taking on pret'near every drift, I lose track of how many we're actually landed.
and on the "good bite" days, honest to God I get bored playing them after appx 30 seconds and start putting HEAVY pressure on hoping the hook pulls out...
but one of the best days I can recall in one spot was in Girardboro Park 13-14 (?) years ago right around Thanksgiving.
I fished for maybe 3-4 hours and never moved more than 20ft
Bite after bite after bite after bite the whole time.
Virtually a bite on every drift.
i really don't know how many I landed ...but it was a whole****bunch

One of the best days I ever had was right below the treatment plant on Elk back about 80-82 the water had been up, and was wayy down and I was fishing the long hole at the base of the cliff with a friend. The hole was literally black with fish and since it was before the internet and on a Wednesday there wasn't another fisherman seen. We had constant hook-ups and I'd say between the two of us about 50 fish landed, and released, and there was a mix of fish too. We finally moved when a man came down about 4pm with two kids and we left to go to supper. The best "streak" I had was at the Stop Sign Hole when I went 6 for 6. 6 casts, 6 fish. Again, hardly a person to be seen. But the glory days are over. In the last few years I was happy to get 3 fish/day to the net. I had more fun helping others find and hook fish.

Best time I ever had was a few years back when I shared the morning with Deetz, Bings, and Papinner. They shared with me some new water - didn't catch many but it created a great memory. Many thanks. Even tried some new gear that day.

I am a crappy, not the fish either, fisherman, therefore I cant lie about numbers. May be 8 in single 100ft stretch of water.....ok fine...4 hookups and one landed.

I tend to lose track after I land about 7 or 8, which doesn't happen that often, especially in the last 4 or 5 years until last year.
I had two days on upper Elk - one in October and one in March - where I lost track after about 45 minutes. Didn't move more than 10 feet probably and the action was as fast and furious for the next couple of hours as it was in the first 45 minutes. No idea how many I hooked up with and no idea how many I landed. Didn't really care either because it was so much fun.
