It turned out not to be a snag afterall

I already posted this in the catfish forum, but it was my biggest fish this year. Therefore I don't feel bad posting it twice.

I was drifting for walleye with a crawler on a dreary erie. I honestly thought I snagged bottom, until it shook it's head. A half hour later it was in the boat.

Less than a minute later my buddy caught it again on a perch rig.

Really? I've heard that burbot was good. They call it "poor man's lobster." I've never tried it. I've never even seen a burbot. So they are nasty, huh?

I've never caught a burbot, but this thing smelled like the dumpster behind red lobster. Actually it smelled more like that black swamp muck.

I can't imagine what it would taste like.

I assume the smiley face means that it was indeed a channel cat.

That's what I thought with the deep V in the tail, but then again I'm not much of a cat fisher. I just got lucky.
