Trail Cams
What is a good trail cam to buy? My buddy had a primos and it only worked for an hour. He took it back and got a Wild Game trail cam. It is not working either. Get a few good pictures and the rest are white. They say Bushnell is good. What are your thoughts?

I have a Wildgame IR4 and for 2yrs have yet to take it out of the woods, I retrieve the card and change the batteries which last for months and move it occasionally and no problems with it.

I effectively share cameras between myself and two of my friends. Between us we have 2 Cuddebacks (1 capture and 1 attack), 2 Wildgame Innovations (whatever the $70-80 model is), 2 Bushnell Trophy Cams, and a cheap Remington Ghost. By far the Bushnell Trophy Cams are my favorite. I have only been running these since the spring but so far I would say they have great battery life, great range, great trigger speed, and take very high quality pictures. The small size of them makes them very easy to conceal as well. The only slight downside is that the night pictures are just ok in quality. You could probably find last years model for around $130. Both the Cuddebacks are junk and have really been nothing but trouble. They both freeze frequently for no apparent reason and operate erratically if battery life is not 100%. The IR on the Attack acts up quite frequently and we get lots of blanks at night. I have tried contacting them numerous times regarding the expensive junk I bought from them and their customer service and willingness to stand behind their product is terrible. However, when they are working properly they do take fantastic pictures. The Wildgame Innovations in my mind are very good for the price based on my experiences. You will sacrifice a little on trigger speed, range, and picture quality, but they are a very servicable camera. The battery life is very good and these cameras have been very reliable for the last 3 years. They are a little on the bulky side though. Oh and the on screen photo viewer is a great feature! The Remington Ghost is terrible and there is no point in taking it any farther, but it was to be expected for being a cheapy.

Asking a question about trail cams is like asking which broadheads are best. But I figure the more info you can compile, the better your decision will be. I personally like the Bushnell Trophy cams. So much that I just purchased another. Trying out the HD which is supposed to have improved flash range. Battery life is excellent. Small size is convenient. Deer walking in front are often in the center of the pic so no complaint on trigger speed or wake-up. Only issue is poor flash range. Very tunnel-like and no where near 45' for any decent resolution. Lucky if get 25'.

I have a moultrie m-100. very crisp pictures. I put it up in the spring and still have the same batteries in it. It has taken at least 500-600 pictures so far. My buddy who owns a cuddeback ( which he really likes ) recomended the M-100. BH

Lost mine on Posted Private Property. Thank God it was the Remington Ghost and not one of the Homebrews.

My kids bought me one for my birthday a couple years ago so we put it down behind the house and it took some nice pictures in a couple days. Went back a couple days latter and it was gone. I let people hunt and fish on our bottom along sugar creek near Franklin and there is at least one that I would kick off. Don't remember what make only that they bought it at Wallmart. It kind of soured me toward buying another.

I took my wildgame camera back. Didn't get another one yet but would probably go with a Moultrie or Bushnell. The farmer who lets me hunt on his farm has a Wildgame and a Moultrie and they both are working good. But I will not buy another Wildgame because me and two buddies had trouble with them.
