Eyes in Erie

It seems that I may have missed the hot walleye bite on Erie this year. I can't believe I haven't made it up yet. With my son being sick and my wife having all of those cancer tests and diagnostics run, I have had very little time to venture far from home. However, this weekend, I have a hallpass. I'm coming up boys! A fella offered to take me out, I'm just looking for any info that will will help me as this will probably be my last chance to get up for eyes. So, PM me or post it on here. Either way, I'll take any info that I can get. Thanks alot guys.

Last weekend out of walnut was terrible. From what I hear the hot bite is between conny and Ashtabula right now. I'm not sure where I will try this weekend. Either lampe or conny. Myself and all of the boats I talked to at walnut last week caught more Steelies than eyes. Hope this helps....

PymieCaster, thanks for the detailed report! That's awesome. When were you hitting them there? With the weather being consistent all this week, surely they will still be in the area. I know what all of those colors/designs are except for "puke." LOL. I've never heard of or seen that color. Sounds interesting. HAHAHA! : )

if your going for perch go off walnut, its on fire.
for eyes, 70-80 fow off the point or join the herd in 48-54 off Shades.
we've been catching them on renoskys & bangos, reef runners were slow. Meat off the dipseys did decent. But boards were the producer this week.

buddy boxed his 12 of the point today in 85 fow. I was jerking perch off walnut in 57 fow and had guys trolling all around me like flies and I saw 2 boats boat a wally each. Guys were at all depths today. But back at the dock, all the wally fisherman all had eyes but no full tickets, better than none!
Perch were just filthy thick today. So far last 3 days, filled 90 perch each day and today was the longest cause took my nephews out for their 1st time and it took 3 hours. 1 nephew got a lil sea sick and stopped fishing for a bit then just wanted to click the clicker.

Yeah. There were three of us in a 15ft boat with a 9.9. We went 5mi out and that was far enough. I heard that they were nailing them off the point in 80FOW, but I didn't have the guts to go out that far in such a little boat. I totally agree about the perch. Those were some nice fish for sure.

That looks like 2 guys not 3. About 2 weeks ago, a buddy and me were heading out to troll off the point and out of east ave, 3 large guys (easy all over 230lbs.) were going out in maybe a 14' boat with a 9.9. I think my buddy pizzed himself laughing that they even went out. They had a planer mast on the bow and all. Storm started rolling in bout 7:30 and they headed towards the beaches to head back in along shore but I bet that was a long trip in and out.

My nephew and his first double on perch EVER. This was his first trip onto the big water. He got a little green behind the gills, but he had fun.

Nothing like an Erie sunset. This was a man in his wife that were perch jerkin beside us. They laughed and played around and caught more than a few perch. It's nice to see that some couples still stay together nowadays and still enjoy eachother's company.

This is a sink full of YUMMY

I didn't have room to spread them all out for a pic, so I took a pic of some nice ones.

The one was a real hog. It was a shade over 14" and weighed in at 1lb 4oz. I got some nice fillets off of that one.

So, all in all, SUCCESS. Beautiful scenery, excellent company, hilarious conversation, and a bucketful of fish equals one much-needed day on the water. I can't wait to go back. I'd also like to throw a shout out to Bulldog for pointing me in the right direction.

OMG! That was you? What are the chances of that happening? Small world duud. Did you see us? We were the two fat guys and one skinny guy in the tiny camo boat anchored beside you! LOL! That's too cool. BTW, listening to you two have such a good time made me smile all evening. You two make a cute couple! Oh yeah, tell her I said that her boat is SWEEEEEEEEEET! I want one! LOL! And what was that big orange ball attached to your anchor rope all about?

    It is a great pic...
But if we do see you out we will be sure to say 'hi'
