What are you planning for this Steelhead season?

Me.... I just ordered a bunch of flies from FishUSA.  I tie my own, but the ones I ordered are those I do not have the ability to tie!  I finally finished getting the new tiny Tear Drop camper ready... took longer than I thought due to back and abdominal issues.  I have a new Fly Rod & Reel set up.  Planning on doing 2-3 night midweek trips every other  week starting late September thru December... weather permitting!

Im planning on being disappointed!!! After getting into them on the open water the last few weeks, a crowded stream with limited room to cast and limited room for the fish to go just doesnt have any appeal for me yet!  Ill take another couple of weeks watching wire divers get slammed and hearing screaming drags. It seems like there is a ton of steelies offshore right now, might be an EPIC run this year! too bad there wont be any water in the streams with the drought lol

I've just about had my fill of them on the open water...soon it will be time for filling the freezer with jumbos, then Fall lakers, then furry critters, then icefishing.

Bogey, when do the jumbos come in? I'd like  a day's worth of big perch. I'd hate to come up just for dinks. Do the big ones come in with the cooler water? I don't know much about perchin' on Erie. What would be the best time of year to try out a headboat like Edward John?

I, too, plan on killing as many as I can before they get a chance to enter the tribs.  Quite a few have been removed so far this year.

I'm down. I dont mind gettin out a few times a year. We'll have to look for somewhere to fish...our secret spot is gettin' crowded

Last years Birfday fish....caught in Jan, on minnows, with a spin rod, and clip on/flip up shades. Remember this program...it's key.

Plan on making the first trip in mid-Oct and going from there.  I missed out on almost all of last season's hunting and fishing due to starting a new job at the end of October, so I plan to make up for lost time and hit it hard this year, not just in Erie, but around here as well, trying for the second year to figure out the waterfowl game and gather some tying feathers.

Its going to be simple for me this season too much school. Probably a lot of spoon casting but can't beat some high water jigging and egg sack drifts. By January it's all about the jumbo perch after the epic year last year ripping them over boat docks

Devastating any stretch of water I step on and out fishing everyone around me no matter what they are using, and taking a limit each day to fertilize my garden.
