Motor stolen

Thought I would post a message on the board. On July 25th a Yamaha 2008 4 stroke 9.9 kicker motor was stolen from my fathers boat parked at his residence near Shenango lake. Police have some witness's and are in the process bringing charges and arrest. Even with that the motor is in the wind. My dad worked hard all his life and now some punk wants to steal from a 70+ year old guy, I am sure his parents are proud. Well anyway,  if anybody may have heard or knew somebody that just got a smoking deal on almost new tiller yamaha 9.9 4 stroke, please contact hermitage police(724)962-7829 or you can pm me here and I will pass info along. Reward offered,Thanks

Does he have the serial # for it?  Might want to shop that around at the local pawn shops and keep an eye on Craigslist, and not just the general area.
Searchtempest.com is a good one to search multiple craigslist areas but I think they only go back 7 days now.  Sorry to hear about it and hopefully the motor is recovered and the thief gets what he deserves.

Does homeowners insurance cover the theft of a boat motor?

When mine was stolen some years ago the insurance gave me only $500 for a 2 year old 25 hp Merc.   What ever the blue book for motors is will be what you get on your home owners policy.  My insurance guy said that in 30+ years they only recovered one boat motor that was stolen in Sharon and the motor was being sold in Kentucky.   He said unless they are high end motors it's not worth the trouble to try and find the motors.  Neighborhood has had at least 5 motors that I've heard of stolen in the last 2 years.  For one motor they cut the transom on the boat , a 90 hp.

Sorry to hear about that.  Not sure if it will work for you but I have a cheap trail cam set up in a pine tree that gets the license plate of every vehicle coming up my drive and if they are on foot snaps a picture of their face when they are heading out.  You would be shocked to see how many people go in and out of your driveway while you are not home.  I have not had any issues, but if I do I hope to have some good leads....

Motor was insured on his boat policy with Erie insurance, which provided full replacement cost. He was just upset with the whole scenario and hoped he might hear something about the motor. It was just the principal of the thing. It was worth a shot posting you never know. Thanks for the replies and lock your stuff up!
