Fishing report Lake Erie (Walnut) 8/2/12

Went out of walnut yesterday because a friend had marked good fish and caught 6 eyes the evening before. Started in 62ft of water northwest of launch about halfway to state line. He was right the screen lit up with marks. The program was downrigger at 44, lead core out 7 colors and dipseys at 1.5 120 back and 3.5 140 back. We started off with a mix of willows,RR and spoons. The action was hot and heavy if you like catching white bass. We only had 3 eyes in the boat by 10am and decided to jump to the second trench. We hooked up on a steel head as soon as the rods got down on a bare naked green RR. Then it was nothing till we trolled all the way back in to the shore line side of the first trench and the rods started poping. We ended up with 16 eyes and a steel head. The biggest eye was 9lbs. We ended north east of the launch just 6.5 miles away. I wish we would have started there but thats hind sight. Persistants pays. The hottest set up was dipsey at 1.5 120 backk with double willow green. Good luck and be safe.
