possible flathead @ greenlick

this came from my friends dad, he's not the most reliable source.
apparently there have been some pretty large catfish washing up along greenlick. one of which is supposedly a flathead. the way it was described sounds like a flathead, but the guy who told me can't tell the difference between a buick and a bluegill. can anyone confirm that they are flatheads or just big channels. i've heard of flatheads occasionally being caught from greenlick. though not recently.

I have been fishing there a couple of times a week all spring & summer & haven't seen any large or small cats washed up,I have seen some gills the last few weeks washed up. There prob.is some flatheads in there, tho not enough to target . The easiest way is to look for the forked tail on the channels. Pretty hard to miss.  sam

Pics or it didn't happen would be awesome to have a decent population of flats in a lake nearby though.

i personally haven't been there in awhile. i'm just kinda goin on the rantings of a lunatic. like a said, he can't tell the difference between a buick and a blue gill.

last time i was there, there were tons of crappie washed up everywhere. that was a few weeks ago. i haven't had time to get down there and look around since. i'm curious about the cats. if they were actually flatheads, they would be breeding. based on the general size i was given. but, again. this information did come from someone who just doesn't know what he's talking about 99% of the time.

Years ago when the bait shop was over across from the church they had pictures of big Flatheads, I'm guessing 20 to 25 lbs. They said they were caught in Greenlick but no one could prove it. I have never caught any there, Channels and Bullheads for me. Some Channels were really nice, around 10 lbs. and all on live chubs.

If you are anywhere near the Allegheney River, you are close to the best flathead fishery in the state.
