Pymie Tomorrow

Regardless of the forecast, I'm taking a trip to Pymie tomorrow. I don't get very many chances to go, so I can't pass this one up just because I might get wet. Anyway, I need some info. I am hearing they are shallow in the weeds, then I'm hearing they are deep. Anyone been there in the last week that can give me a little insight? PM me if you don't want to post publicly. I'd really appreciate any info on walleye and crappie. Thank you.

I don't know what your after, I've only been fishing for the small stuff, but crappies are now in the inlets, perch are caught everywhere, and I'm catching Small Mouths around the super drop offs around the shores. I've also been catching Large Mouths in the grassy shallows around 7 O'clock at night. I've also have been bringing in a lot of weeds too.

I've been using small diving Raps, live bait, and Rooster tails.

I went up this weekend, and did ok.  Nothing huge, but enough decent sized crappie to save the trip.  Got most of ours off of a point in 8 FOW.  Couldn't find any of those jumbo perch that folks were talking about, got two cigar perch.  Had a few nice largemouth self release.  Marked a crazy amount of tight lipped fish in 18-20 FOW, only 2 small bumps in 3 or so hours in that range.

It took us a few failed attempts at a few launches to get the boat in the water...  We ended up at the Pymie State Park launch in Ohio, about 2 miles south of the Causeway, and was deep enough for our 17'.  Saw a guy pulling out of the Espyville launch with a 20' or so Trophy.  Guessing he didn't launch there...  Not sure if any launches would handle that size boat right now.  None that we saw at least.  Definitely need some soakers to get that lake at a decent level.

Got out about 630 pm from snodgrass and went to 19 and 20ft of water got the big goose egg and decided to check shallow. When i hit 15ft i got my first eye and that was 830 pm. I got one more before dark. Hit bottom bouncer and worm. Well i decided to run up to you the big lake and see if the waves will be good in the morning. I will let you know.

I waited till the rain let up and checked bay41. A canoe would have a hard time launching there..lol A big muddy bay. Went to the Jamestown launch and headed north. I apparently messed the timing up some. It ran rough till I played with thee low speed idle. The electric start worked great though. Did some drifts past beer can island with a few crappie bites. Went to the beach area and had tons of bites but only tail nipping.
The rain started down again so I called it quits. Darn battery was dead from using my trolling motor so much. Guess its time to buy another starter battery.

In a nutshell; Low & slow.
North end launches are about useless unless you're in a flat bottom.
Specifically, if you go out of Manning, watch for the rock(s) to the right side of the dock.

We are renting a pontoon out of Espyville. Most of the guys that I'm going with haven't been fishing in a while, if ever, and I'd like to show them a good time. Probably won't matter to them what we catch. Any walleye would be a bonus. I'd like to get into some crappie and perch.

I think it is slow every where. Fished Shenango yesterday and managed 2 small bass and 2 small crappie. I did not have bait though. More of a test drive on the motor.

I fished Pymatuning yesterday. Found some very nice panfish in 13ft all around brushpiles. Kept 26 crappies, 3 bluegills, 2 smallmouth bass, and 2 perch. Got most on a berkley power minnow bait on an eigth oz unpainted head. Lost a few jigs but i think it was worth it.

Windy day! Threw my drift sock out and mark fish 5-10'.
Fished near the dam in 22, with no bites. Worked into 12, and picked up  5 perch 2 gills 1 crappie 1 white bass. Walleyes had lock jaw.
Amish worked the bass over. A boat capsized and I could hear them hollering for help. By the time I got the drift sock in and raced across the lake these 3 Amish were there throwing there cushion at an older fellow that was ready to go under. I picked up their cooler mbucket and a bag of cloths. A pontoon came over and got the two guys in the boat then hauled their submerged boat to shore. Luck guys...could have been a drowning.
