Yough River

I fished the Yough River today. Saw a really nice size Musky. I caught the two biggest Green Sunfish that i've ever seen. I guess they were greenies. I had this discussion on here a few weeks ago. These were as big as some small bass i've been catching. The only thing that threw me was down their sides, they had verticle dark lines similar to a perch. I've only ever caught small ones so i don't know if that is normal or if they were some kind of hybrid. They were fun to catch though and fought pretty hard on my UL. Smallmouth were jumping but didn't get any.

Those were most likely rock bass you were catching. Green sunfish look like a pumpkinseed crossed with a largemouth. Most people just assume both are rock bass or bluegill.

No these were not rock bass. I have been catching rock bass lately and they have red eyes. I looked online at images of Green Sunfish and that is what they were. It seems like the smaller ones that i'm used to catching are darker colored but these bigger ones have more pronounced markings. Sure were fun to catch though on an UL.

Anybody know what the Yough is like today after all the rain? Wanted to get out there today but don't want to bother if its a muddy high mess.
