Pine township community park pond
There was an article about this pond in the sunday paper. Dont remember if it was the trib or the press. Might take the offspring. Has anyone ever fished there? Are there any bait stores nearby where i could get minnows? Any other info that you can share is welcomed. Tight lines. Thanks Trout Man

I was shocked to see the Trib. & PFC highlight a 2 acre lake like that.I wonder who will provide the traffic cops for it. sam

you can get bait at the North Park baitshop... the pine township pond is about ten mins away from there. Take Pearce Mill Road out of the park across 910 for another couple miles... the park is on your left pull in and follow the road to the right it will take you around the park... you'll see a road turning sharp left and down the hill...l make the left to the parking lot there you are... good luck

Pine township is not as productive as they say in the article. The fish are wary as they have been caught and released so many times. they need to cull the population as the bass tend to stay on the small side. I would imagine that they caught the same fish over and over to get the numbers they quote. they should make north park and marshall lake catch and release at least every other year to get the fish up to size there. of course, now the chinese families will be up at pine and claiming ignorance (does grandma, grandpa and my wife really need a license as i have one????) as they fill their five gallon bucket with two inch blue gill!!!! BTW, pine's parking lot only handles about five cars and it is really designed for family fishing.

north park sports shop for bait. 897 east ingomar rd 15101. im not sure it mentions it in the article but pine park pond is catch and release only. i use to fish it a lot about 10 years ago and always did best in the early morning and could catch over 50 bass in a few hours. now they have gates into the park and im not sure what time it opens? rubber worms did well and live minnows or shiners worked the best.

I was able to pull a 17-inch bass out of the pond a few weeks back. Outside of that I caught some nice sized gills. I went back with my son yesterday morning, and since that article was written it has now become a high traffic area. I talked to two separate people yesterday and they were first timers there...went there because of the article. It has very limited shore line fishing access and this time of year the pond is pretty "weedy".

hopefully it will settle back to normal. (good family spot without a lot of pressure) you are quite correct concerning weeds. cast out and you get a ton of gunk on your line as you retrieve. better off going to deer lakes, oneida in butler, arthur, marshall and north park lake or even down on the river!

I would like to try the two mentioned in the article. I will wait until novelty is worn out after people forget about it. I like trying new places. I also like places that get little pressure. Out of respect for the local fisherman that just got their spot blown up, i will wait. I have a few spots that I wouldn't want revealed. It's hard enough with the locals that know about it.

Wow, I just read the article in the Trib. I am not trying to hide Hopewell Park Lake, I just hope no one thinks it needs to be on their bucket list. I fish it because it is two minutes from my house at the bottom of the hill. If you travel any distance at all to this lake you will be sadly disappointed. I am really not trying to keep it a secret, just save you some wasted gas money. Mike

i second what madbass91 said...nothing doing here...ducks, goldfish, bluegills that don't bite because they eat bread 24/7 and a whole mess of 7 inch bass with 15 inch regulations on them
