Predator Hunting

So I was thinking about giving it a try. Mainly for Coyote. Was hoping some of you guys could give me some tips/info. What equipment do i need? And does anyone know how well the cell phone app calls work? Thanks!

What area of PA are you hunting? I wouldnt even bother with the hone app calls. Im sure they work, but its just easier to have a couple of hand calls...I use cottontail distress, rodent squaler, a howler, tha produces howls, but more importantly pup distress. also one of my best calls is a woodpecker distress.  this call can work wjhen nothing else will. the best shot you have at shooting a yote is beginning of the fur season...the more time goes by, the tougher and less vocal they become.

My favorite is callin at night with a red lens light setup, but also have called a few right at first light.

I usally take two guns with me, my .22 mag with CCIs (shoot em in the head, if not you could be in for a long track job). But the gun i kill the most yotes and foxes with is my 12 guage with 3.5 inch mags with number 4 shot.  also i have a super full choke and have shot foxes and yotes out too 40-45 yards. but if they hang-up. which they do as the season gets later in the year pick up the rifle.

Have fun and yo need to put in the hours, and dont get discouraged if you go thru a few stands with nothing, because when you do get a hard charger coming in at full speed and you have to put a load of number 4 shot in him to stop him you'll be addicted.

    Theres noting else like it

I'm hunting NW PA. We have a little bit of land in Mckean Township. When exactly does fur season start? Tried looking it up but couldn't find it. And also, whats the difference between how a red light functions and how a regular one does?

if you use a regular white light they will see it...i dont know the exacr science behind it...but they cannot pick up the red.  just be sure to only shine in front and a little to the sides of you...if you go behind or enoug to your side then they will pick up on your outline, same with bushes and trees behind you.

you can hunt yotes year round, but i dont hunt until the fall bc i sell the fur, but if you are hunting them to get rid of them, deer or pet probs go now...this time of year youll have mulitple come as the pups are still hangin around with there parents.

and if yo do huntthem now, get a fawn in distress call, works wonders this time of year

October 20th is opening for fox this year, Im also hunting NW PA
