You know you caught a big one when...

You have to shoot it with a pistol  and drag it home with an ATV... Slick, this has your name all over it...

    WOW.  I couldn't even imagine coming across something that big swimming in the water.  I'd probably start running lol.

    I'ts a wonder we've never witnessed some hauling they're stringer of Steel behind an ATV. I'm almost certain it's happened at least ionce with Kings on the Salmon river, or Oak Orchard.

    Glen....That is still on my bucket list
     
    Me and the rest of team sNaGr have been bustin the local gar up pretty good this week. Lots of fish over 40". One of those suckers got a piece of me too. Those teef are sharp!

    Ive seen one alligator gar that had to be pushing 6 ft in PI about 2 years ago....There are some monsters in there, no doubt

    Ok, I'll be the first one to say it.  There are NO alligator gar in PI, only longnose and spotted gar.

    Those things are known to attack humans. I've seen it happen on Monster Fish.

    No, longnose and spotted gar don't get even close to the size of alligator gar.

    That's what I thought. I didn't think they got 6ft. I don't know what that fella saw. Maybe a sturgeon. There are still a few of those in Erie.

    Ive seen gar in PI pushing 6ft....no where near the weight though...long and skinny.
     
    Girthiest one I saw was bout big around as my thigh.

    All I know is when yer buddy says " hey look at that monster rollin under the boat", and you turn to look and it is swimmin over a gar that is 2 ft. longer. That will blow you away!

    I just looked on the PFBC site and it says longnose gar can get up to 50in.(a little over 4 ft), so I wouldn't be surprised if there were a couple that can grow that extra 2ft.  I have very few encounters with gar so what do I know lol.

    It says that he ate that thing. Lots of fillets on there! I always heard gar were nasty to eat. Anyone on here ever try it?
