Well I got done there a little later than I wanted too. I fished from 1130 to 3. I had an awesome time. My first fish was a wiper real good size. And I got him on my ugly stik ultralight with 6 pound line. I got 8 walleyes 4 catfish and some crappie. It was one of my better days this year. I will def be back down soon. And if I could figure out how to post pics from my iPhone I'd put some up

Nice! Good job on the eyes, haven't been doing real well with them this year for some reason, only got a few. All of the wipers I've gotten there have been on 6lb test, they are a blast on lighter tackle. Most average around 3-6lbs in there I noticed but they fight like 15 pounders. For the pics once you get them on the computer you can either upload them to a hosting site(Photobucket, etc.) and link from there, or just downsize them and attach them.

You guys are posting EXACT spots and you dont expect a lot of company? There's a lot of lurkers that are enjoying your posts too. " You post it, they will come " Just a heads up in case you didn't realize it. Nothing wrong with it but dont be surprized when you see them there.

First of all, the Shenango has been "spot burned" on here countless times, and is just a flat out popular spot to fish. I guess everyones definition of spot burning can be different. There's no way to burn popular places any more(Shenango, Pyma, etc.), they've already been burned. Now describing a SPECIFIC ROCK and such and telling people exactly where to cast and what to use I guess would be burning on popular places. Now saying this small jump-across creek in the middle of nowhere is EXCELLENT for native brookies would be spot burning also, without giving away any access points and such, just simply naming the stream I would consider spot burning. (BTW there's a gazzilion good brookie streams, no need to burn.) And there's usually always a bunch of people fishing Shenango, ever since I started fishing there.

Shenango always has had a lot of people fishing since the dam was first built. Heck the river was cowded around that section of the river before the dam was put in. So a few people around isn't anything new. If you guys think it's crowded now you should have seen it back in the 60's and 70's. It was shoulder to shoulder every day all year long. When the river was fished hard for eyes it wasn't anything to go through 3-5 dozen crawlers a morning. And sometimes you had to wait for a spot to open so you could fish. And trout fishing was worse, especially when there was in season stocking.

I don't think spillways count when it comes to giving out specific locations. That place was crowded when I was kid a 25 years before the Internet.

I guess I don't care as much because I don't fish spillways...too many fishmongers and locals who think they own the place. I do get why td is so sensitive. I don't like it when someone gets too enthusiastic about one of my flows and gives it a bunch of publicity. There are ways to be helpful without giving away specifics. You can just say "Shenango" and go from there. That gives people about 100 miles of river and lake to consider. Or you can use the phrase, "local flow." Tell people what the flow rate, clarity, terrain was like and what tactics you use. That is actually more helpful in the long run than giving specific location. Keep well known landmarks out of the pictures. Share specifics via private messages with people who you see are trustworthy based on their historic posting record. Spillways are going to get a lot of pressure no matter what. Like I and others have said. That place has been packed since way before there was an internet. You should have seen it when the population in the valley was twice what it is now.

And that's exactly what I did. Went and fished it....with the help of a few guys pointing me in the right direction.
If you noticed there was a lot of talk abou shenango befOre this. Also I didn't ask for spots. I asked what I could expect and general tackle.
But you're right and all knowing and no one has ever helped you or "spot burned" to get you prepared for a place you've never been too....so for that I bow down to you and your obvious infinate fishing wisdom.

I'll give you an example of what I think spot burning is.
"I stood 43 feet from the left shore in knee deep water right by the big boulder. I cast app 65 feet with a floating jig head with a stinger hook and a whole night crawler with 3 splug shots 18 inches from the jig. I bounced it off the bottom until it hit the eddy and there is where I had most of my hook ups."
