Invasive carp in the Ohio?

Not sure but I think this is some type of Asian carp.  I have caught 2 in the last week out of the Ohio river in Rochester .  Sorry it is a bad pic if from a phone.  What type of fish is it?   It left behind a bunch of silver large round scales the size a dime.    (This is my fist shot a pic so i hope it worked)

What you have pictured doesn't look at all like an "Asian". But since they are already established in the Illinois, Missouri, and Mississippi rivers. They no doubt are, or will be in the Ohio.

Yep definitely a buffalo(smallmouth buffalo?), it's actually a member of the sucker family.  And it is a NATIVE species, so no need to worry.

I caught a couple of those carp fishing in the Allegheny a few weeks ago. I thought they were quillbacks, looks like I was wrong.

abear, did you go to this site on invasive species?  it lists all of them (to include three versions of asian carp) and redirects
user to a fact sheet on the species.  I personally think this is a very good source of info and has well defined photos and descriptions.  and a web search will get you more info.

Asian carp are very hard to catch from what I have seen on tv. They are not the typcial trash eaters like normal carp. They are filter feeders and eat mostly plankton, which is why they are such a problem because they are starving the other species of fish that feed on it.
