Tales from da Darkside: Mill-Pond Ambush

"To be a decent angler one must think outside the box, to become an excellent carp angler you must not only think but live in another universe" ~words of a good bud on a uk forum, Carpster.

With the local lake being a stinking mudhole anymore, I decided to start searching new waters. This place called the "Mill-Pond" was on my hit list. After a hour and 15 minute drive I arrived but there was a hike ahead of me with all my gear.

The lack of any garbage going in was a good sign that this is remote enough to have carp that seen very little in the way baits/rigs. It can be a double edge sword, one side you can have nonstop action the other they don't know what to make of your hookbaits.  A small cliff overlooked the section where the river fed in.

Plently of carp but nothing I would consider a monster. I spotted a nice opening where I catapulted 5 balls of "evil goodness" and began to setup, carp were all over the spot feeding shortly.

Wasn't long before the right hand rod was buzzing. A short fight, into the net, and on the mat with the first first of the day. Followed by a second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth.

With so much action in such little time they shyed away from the area. Didn't matter a 12ft rod can reach them in a small body of water, with recasting the rods and a decent wait the middle rod went off. The result...

I was begining to wrap things up as the middle rod screamed off again. Lifting the rod I could feel weight.

Not very long but it was very round and in perfect condition, bloated for the spawn.

Whoa!  "Man" with painted nails?  Do you shave the legs?

    Why, are you interested?

On a different note, MM, did you add/authorize the FishUSA watermark to those photos?

Since, to my knowledge, the old site didn't do this, I'm wondering if photos posted to/hosted on the site become the property of FishUSA, if FishUSA holds the rights to them (for display as intended by the poster, or anywhere FishUSA wishes), and if the photos are pulled by the poster, if FishUSA still maintains a copy.  Can an admin comment on this?

Maybe he needs advice on how to avoid the wicked razor burn aftermath

    But back to da thread.

I uploaded the pics into an album here and noticed it after the upload.  Highly doubt fishusa would use them anyways so no biggie.

duUD if you still wanna hit the karp Sunday let me know on FB. They're feeding like mad.

Sweet, sure is a fat ba$tard. Your post actually finally inspired me to go look at a couple small lakes I've been drooling over on Google maps since winter, 2 of the about 10 lakes I looked at(some very very small) had visible feeding carps, one was exactly what I've been looking for, but I still gotta find a fly they'll eat.
