Acme dam

I fished Acme Dam today. Caught nothing. There was a bunch of dead sunfish and a dead catfish. Does anyone know whats going on there. It was like the dead sea. Smelled like sewage all around. It was my first time. Not sure if I'll go back.

I have ice fished there. Always catch tons of gills and very little of anything else. Id imagine it is a weed hole most of the year.

Every year around this time there is a die off of gills , & crappie due to the stress of the spawn. Undoubtably you will see more in the next few weeks. As far as the smell goes, could be the farmers in the area getting thier fields ready to plant, or possibly a problem with the sewage systems at those new houses accross the road. sam

When is the Bluegill spawn usually end? I don't like catching them off of their beds.

i would think the sewage smell was from all the swampy patches around the lake. it's always bad this time of year. they dry up a bit as the summer comes. the gills and bullheads are in full spawn now. that. along with the vast temperature changes lately. probably account for the die off. though, in the mid 90's that lake was pretty toxic due to poor sanitation at the double T farm. then they over sanitized and caused more problems. the weeds haven't really been growing as thick or spreading as far as they used to. i don't know if the over sanitization would still be affecting the lake. i doubt it, but i couldn't find any recent info on it.
