The second biggest one, golden colored, is what I presumed to be a pumpkin seed. If that's not what it is, then what is it? The gill dot is much larger than on a bluegill and the color was much different. It was much brighter orange when it was fresh.

Is it a red breasted sunfish? Coldfront, thank you! And yes, I'll be eating well! I can't wait to go back out.

Slabdaddy, they're all gills. Just a little color variation thats all. Great catch. I'd be proud to get a bunch like that. They're my favorite fish to eat. Ok. I thought the one had to be different because of the enlongated gill spot, but you are probably right. Either way, like you said, it is a great catch and I'll be frying these babies up soon! Thanks for checking them out. : )

I tried a different spot last night and fished for about an hour. I had a good time. I kept a few smaller ones because they inhaled the jig a little deep.
