Suggestions on where to take my son

Well, I WAS gonna take my 5 yr old boy out to Crooked Creek tomorrow to fish for Crappie in out new-to-us boat. However the boat ramp is closed due to high water.

I'm looking for suggestions on lakes where I can use a gas motor to take him out tomorrow. I live in Turttle Creek and don't really want to drive over an hour if I don't have to, but I might drive a little further to keep from breaking his heart and canceling.

Thanks in advance folks!

Also any suggestions as far as bait shops near the lake you suggest would be helpful as well.

How about Cross Creek lake in Avella? Lots of panfish and the potential for a nice bass. And a bait shop on the way in to the lake.

Men and fish are alike. They both get into trouble when they open their mouths.

What size motor do you have? Is cross creek still 10 HP Max?

Moraine isn't that far. Probably an hr drive if you miss rush hr. can't help ya on bait. Good luck.

Thanks guys! I think I've decided on lake Arther. It's about the same drive to each for me and going to Arther I don't have to drive through the city.

Eyes, I'll be using a 7.5 HP. Don't have the 10HP running yet.

your in turtle creek go to loyalhanna dam. Only like a 45 minute drive. o yeah and you can stop at 6 bouys on 22 on the way. That's where I would go if I were you. Lake arthur ='s driving on 79 ='s why it should be legal to kill people.

If I agreed with you we’d both be wrong.

I thought about Loyalhanna, but wasn't sure ignite boat launch would be open or not. Do you know if it is? If so I might change my plans.

Loyalhanna is blown out they closed the rec areas and such 1830CFS as of 9:45pm at the outflow and a ton of floating debris from the rain... I'd say if you decided to keep it as an option i'd call their office for the conditions before getting your hopes up to go there.

Ok thanks. Arther it is then. Never fished it before, but hopefully we can find some Crappie.

I have been taking my boy to Arthur since he was 5....stop at McDonnel's on 19, not far off from exit 99, 79N. Get some minnows, put 'em under a slip bobber and you won't have to wait long. Was there Sunday before last and got into some slab gils and perch.

PM me if you have any questions, glad to help a fellow creeker out.
