First Bird of 2012

Well talk about a great morning! Got in the woods really late, about 7:15 and right of the bat i hear birds. Great! i get set up and figure out that they are on the other side of the road so all i can do is wait and call a little. They answered everytime i called so i just waited and sat. An hour and a half later they gobbler right on top of me. I give a soft cluck and they gobble. WE'RE IN! i say to myself. I find out that this bird along with 5 other gobblers came up the hill to me. I thought they may be jakes but after this guy started to strut i realized they were not jake. 1, 2, 3......BANG! 35 yds dead as a doorknob! 18 lb 8 1/2 beard 1 in spurs.

    Congrats on sittin tight and waiting them out-lota guys woulda tried to move in and probably busted out the whole morning- nice Bird.

    Has anyone noticed the white stripes on the two middle tail feathers? I have never seen that before. I noticed it when he was strutting and thought it was pretty neat...
