Other species in Peters Creek

I've been fishing Peter's for several years now, and have caught stocked trout, green sunfish, tiny bluegill. Is there any smallmouth fishing to be had there? There are tons of smallies in Chartiers creek, and that water's nastier than peters. Is it an issue of how far you are from the Mon, or are they spread throughout?

Chartiers is a lot bigger, with much bigger pools. The Tri-Community Anglers did a survey of the stream, and I do think there was smallmouth in the survey. Not sure if it was something they had printed that I read, or found it online. I would imagine, the closer to Clairton, the more smallmouth there are.

I've caught a few smallies and walleye here and there. Have seen a good many of them at a time pooled up but not hitting what I was offering. I've been meaning to hit that new bank restoration area, cuz that looks like a real nice place for a couple of the warmer water fish.

There used to be a guy a while back that put all different species of fish in the hole right below Greenmans where that other small creek comes in. I remember catching a sauger on the other side of the tunnel when I was like 10. But like Monrivermonster said, the salt spill basically killed off everything in the creek. There might be a few carp or suckers left over in the holes further up stream from Greenmans but that's about it.

@Pete - Are you talking about the concrete bank and rock wall about 150 feet downsteam of greenmann tunnel?
@ Monriver & Jeff - I do remember seeing a picture of dead fish that had been pulled out of the creek after the salt spill, and at least two of them were smallies. Might have been a sauger or two as well.

No, there was a bank stabilization project (last year, I think) a little bit before the bridge that goes over to the ponds further down stream.

How far down from the bride pilings in the water where all the carp hang out is this water stabilization thing?
