Honestly I dont buy into any of that. Water temp, clarity, bait and or lack of are what I take into consideration. Never once have I fished based on moon phases or what the lunar tabels say.

I have to fish when I can. New moon, full moon or any where in between. Also heard when the cows are up and grazing is prime time. Again, my schedule is not always the same as theirs.I think it comes down to the more bad days you have, the more good days you will have.

It was a super moon for sure..
Fishing wise, no impact on ponds and streams..

I do however think it was HUGE for tidal waters ..
    HIGH tides and ripping currents..
Many people on cosatal waters gathered for this event just to fish..

Spot on- big tides mean big rips out on the ledges and rock piles- Conditions made for Striper fishing.

Nice shot pork... i was pretty shocked at how bright it was at midnight when i rolled in to albion on friday night. Even saturday night was pretty bright. For the fishing/full moon thing, i have noticed a few times that fresh runs have come in down low on or around full moons...dont know of any fact base info on any correlation though... i would imagine that it would effect night fishing more so as more clearly of a sillouhette would be casted by your bait or fly....just a thought though; no facts

Don't hunt anymore but when I did I noticed that deer hunting was poor on a full moon unless you did drives to move them.I guess they wore themselves out moving about in the moonlight and then bedded down before dawn.
Never really nailed anything down on freshwater fishing with the moon, but it must affect the salt with the higher tides.
One thing I have noticed is that a East or NE wind is not a good time to fish, conversly the SW or south wind is a good time to be out there

Same as with animals, the daylight period following a full moon will have decreased activity for species that feed nocturnally like stripers, largemouth, and large brown trout.

I have articles regarding the effects of the lunar cycle on fishing and hunting. While some times may be better than others the bottom line is that fish and animals have to feed on a daily basis. Right spot, right time and barometric pressure has always been a better indicator for me. Hunt or fish as a low pressure system approaches and just after it departs. The feed bag is sure to be on at those times. Wind out of the East, fish bite least. Wind out of the West, fish bite best.

Personally always thought the barometric pressure had more to do with game than fish. Watch tomorrows weather reports an then drive around in the country looking at Deer- You will soon find a direct link between the weather changes and thier earlier evening activity.
Always kinda figured the rivers with Runs like SR had better early AM pushes after a bright night. The fishes seemed to travel more on those evenings IMHO.
For Salt water that full moon phase means higher and faster tides - goodo.

RG- I'm headed up to Charlestown, RI, Aug 4-11, plan to hit the beaches and breezeways. First time at this rental, usually stay in Narrangansett Pier near the Towers and town beach. Looking forward to hitting some stripers and fluke. Barometric pressure effects all living things land or water.
