What light weight Fly fishing rod, reel, & line do you suggest?

When I am not on the tribs I like to fish for Trout in the ANF on small to large streams.
Please suggest what two piece, 6 - 7 foot rod, line, and reel and where. I was overwhelmed when I searched on the internet.
Thanks,
Mike

i would suggest a 7' or 7'6" rod. i use a 3wt so i couldn't tell you if a 2wt or less would suit your needs better. if you are fishing brushy bank creeks i would go with a moderate-fast action rod. i have both a medium progressive rod, diamonback, and a med/fast action, hardy demon.
the progresive rod is soft and you practically have to come to a full backcast to load the rod. this makes for more tree and brush hook ups than fish and is frustrating. also the softer the rod i found it is not as easy to roll cast.
with a quicker action rod, med/fast, you can stop your back cast about 12:00 and cast with your wrist which means less line behind you for the hazards behind. easier to roll cast and sidearm cast with a stiffer action.
i use DT floating line and still feel it roll casts better than any WF line in tight quarters.
i wouldn't go with a full fast action rod for small creeks but that's just me.
    hope this helps ~DT

I suggest you contact skip at Mile Creek Custom Rods. He's and expert at building these kind of rods and can set you up with exactly what you're looking for. He can get you reels and lines to match the rod as well. He's Skip16503 on this site. # 814-504-9920.

I personally would consider 2 rods one ~7' 3 wt and a 8.5-9' 4 wt. Get a reel with a 4 weight line and use it with both rods. Quite honestly, a 6-7 foot rod is not enough for Tionesta and other "large" streams. I would look at Redington, TFO, and St. Croix for great bang for your buck rods. Of course Skip will give you exactly what you want, but that is a bit more expensive.w_w.

If it has fins and gills, I'm there.

    7'6" to 8' 3wt, fast action.

I have a 7'9" 3wt St. Croix Avid that is an excellent choice for pretty much any water where casts will be under 50'
