PIB fishing this weekend

PIB delivered a healthy amount of largemouth bass this weekend. We caught about 30 between the hours of 9am and 3pm. The weather was cold in the low 40's, but the water temp was low 50's. Here are a couple of pictures.

Should be like that till june , then you gotta figure out where and how you can fish for them in the thickest weeded cover. Good luck.

Btw I know exactly where you got those fish. Stay outta my spots

Ha, it's always fun up in the bay. I couldn't believe how thick the lagoons were already. A few more weeks and you'll need a canoe to get back to where we fished.

Good luck to you as well!

very nice largemouth!!!  those are some nice prespawn largies, with the water in the low 50's the prespawn patterns should work for a while yet,  but next week I see there could be a warming trend and the water will inch back up towards the 60's ,  action should pick up til then when the majority head to the beds, great job Otking!!!!!

Dude I was out last night water still is right at 60 back there, the fish are in spawn you can see fish on their beds with polarized lenses. The water temp in the bay is ranging 54-62 right now. Last night hammered largies and smallies on cranks

Hummmmmmm interesting , one guy says water in low 50's another says 60. Guess I'll have to go see for myself. But I'm not a fan of bed fishing, just not my thing. Hopefully it's just the males preparing nests and not an actual full blown spawn, that kinda sucks. Wonder if anyone has been catching any of the big 4-5pd females or maybe they haven't come that shallow yet. Puzzling, gotta get up there.

well the weather isn't looking good for this weekend,  I'm going nuts,  I gotta get the boat out! GRRRRRRRR  I gotta give otking credit,  fishing when the air temp is in the 40's is not a lot of fun unless you're killin em.  Hard for me to get excited about fishing in air colder than 50degrees.  But I'm dying to see what's going on up at the Bay.  Looking by the posts that I've read and been told, the largemouth are spawning to some degree back in the bays and shallow water,  which to me is unreal for this early in the year.  I just hope that the eggs and fry are alright with the cold weather that has been here lately and the bass don't lose a complete year class cuz they spawned too early.  Oh yeah den,  you ain't eating no bass outta my boat! But your funny though! LOL

    Spawning Largemouths???? 2012/04/28 08:20:50 (permalink)
There is no spawn on and has not been up to this point. Been fishing here as long as anyone and I know exactly where they spawn and it simply hasn't happened. Why are people saying this? You don't have to be a biologist to know what conditions are needed and that has not happened. THere are always some outliers that might get a bed early but all of the fish I have caught and that is quite a few so far this year have not even come close to starting.

thank you panther for the update, that makes a little more sense, I've been fishing the bay since 89 and I too found it hard to believe the spawn is done, well next nice day the Ranger will be headed west to the bay, by the way funny that I got banned--- for what I have no idea. All these new guys from "Grizzly Gary" are getting me p'oed. But after all they are correct I wasn't back in the lagoons in 4 feet of water today ripping largemouths right off there nests. I hope I don't destroy the whole population as stated above

I would love to compete against Dave Lefebre while his story is great I know several guys on this page that would crush him in a fish off such as Slick, Deetz, Bings, myself and several others. I have never seen him finish in the top 50s in any tournament. Just sayin'

OK last chime in for me here on this thread.

If you are making a contest out of fishing and how many fish you can catch versus how many fish the other guy can or cant catch then you have just made fishing a "job".

That may be fine for some of you , whatever floats yer bote.
I choose not to make it a job but a recreation and stress reliever. To each their own.
Just dont belittle someone cause they aint gots money to have the "best" gear.

I fish cause I can and know how to. Its the one thing that helps me get by in life.

OH and IM not sponsored so Ive earned my skillz through experience. My "friends" know this and know who they are.

I can take any criticism any of yinz throw out there. The more I know the better I will be , good or bad. Just ask Slick.

Just sayin' .....If I dont resopnd its cause you aint worth the time. No hard feelings Fish on and do what you do. Cause if there wasnt any Jagoffz out there who would I laugh at...

I already miss to much work fishing...
