Fishing the bay smallmouth/perch

We're heading out to the bay tomorrow in a small boat searching for smallies and perch. I was wondering what tactics u guys use for both. I usually just fish the bay for pike and I wanted to try something different

    Josh,

    How small of a boat?
    There is a small craft warning for the lake. The bay will be extremely bad also. A 14' could be easly sunk in the bay when.there is a small craft warning.
    I have seen the bay very bad at times.

    It's a 14 thanks for the info we may have to stick to misery bay and fish for pike.
