27.1lb Laker

Captain John kicked off his first trip of the year heading East in search of Lakers.

20 hookups on Saturday landing 10 of the the largest weighing 14.5 pounds

Sunday was where the action picked up! Had fish on before we could get the spread set. Headed in at 9:30am with a total of 13 lakers landed and released.

As the storm front moved in we landed an 18.12 pounder, all talking about how the day couldn't get any better...Little did we know what we were in store for. The final fish of the day was a 27.1pound laker, what a fish! We decided to head in and beat the rain

The weekend was action packed! Dream Weaver spoons were the ticket. The riggers along with the dipsy's both did a great Job, We also had some luck on the boards.

A special thanks to Captain John for all of his hard work and dedication.

Safe Fishing to Everyone

    Frantz,

W.T.G. ! That is one great fish. Nice job out there. There are a few 20 + lbers caught each spring. That is one fine fish.
We have had our share of 16lbers this spring but, I couldnt imagine seeing that toad coming in........
We were out on saturday too. We ended up with 10 by noon. We got kinda tired of fighting the wind from the southwest, so we headed near shore for shelter.
We pulled some cranks for those big beautiful smallies. That was fun.

    Congrats on the laker!

    Dave,

Thank You for the good words. Last weekend was our first time out and it was a blast. I will post more photos when I figure out how to use the site a little better. The water didn't get to bad as where we were.

We Landed one 18.12....We thought that was BIG!

How did you do on the smallies?

I just read an article that they use the ear bone and fin rays to determine age. Some have reached 70 yes 70 years old.

Imagine how many stupid lamprey that thing has had to fight off........

The state record is 27.13oz he ended up being 27.1. If we would have known he was shy of the record we would have tossed him back.  I dont know if he would have made it anyway he about killed himself on the way in.

Man, what a fish! Being it was that close to a record, I'd have him weighed on a certified scale!

The fish commission weighed him at walnut creek. Too bad he didn't take out a nice jumbo perch before he hit the spoon.
