Next major PHWFF Outing

We are sending 2 participants from our Chapter in Erie to attend a 4 day Event in Coudersport Pa on May 22 – the 25.

This is a once in a lifetime Event to Honor marine CPL Jason Dunham a 22-year-old machine gunner from Scio, N.Y., he was manning a checkpoint near Karabilah, near the Syrian border in Iraq, on April 14, 2004, when an Iraqi man grabbed his throat. As the two scuffled, the Iraqi dropped a grenade with the pin removed, and Dunham quickly jumped on it, using his Kevlar helmet and body to smother the blast.

Shrapnel pierced his skull, and he died eight days later with his parents at his side at the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Md.

His Parents will be in attendance to receive an Honor in his name

United States Marine Corps Sergeant Mark Dean, one of Medal of Honor recipient Corporal Jason Dunham's close friends, and Major Trent A. Gibson, Dunham's former company commander, carefully sort out the pieces of the Kevlar helmet Dunham used to help absorb the blast of a grenade in the streets of Iraq in 2004. The pair delivered the helmet to the National Museum of the Marine Corps July 9 to be displayed in the coming years.

You and all the veterans there will be in my thoughts next week Skip.

    Quick update:

The water levels looked good yesterday when I left and I saw a decent Green Drake Hatch as well as the others on a similar stream on Saturday.

The Vets were to arrive at my camp this morning and were going to fish with Skip and Dano today.  They are going to stay overnight then head to Big Moores Run tomorrow.

I would assume they are fishing a hatch as we speak.  I'm sure there will be a few good stories about this trip when they get back.w_w.

If it has fins and gills, I'm there.
