1st Trip to Western NY

I am going to be shore fishing in The Niagara falls area April 30 & May 1. I have never fished the area before. I'm bringing a CP set up and a spinning setup. I fish the Eastern Lake O tribs all the time and am aware that this is "the end of the season" in Oswego & Jeff counties. I have no idea about the western tribs. I'm not looking for spoon fed info but some general area's to target would sure help. I'll be by myself with no time limits ( for a change ) Will be staying at the Marriot on the Canadian side because I'm really supposed to be at a trade show. I understand one thing so far...do not wade at devils hole!

Should I bring waders?
Baits?

What is the jetty in the harbor I have read about? What harbor?

I am not planning on keeping any fish
