A friend of mine got food poisoning when we stopped for lunch near the Little Mahoning, so it ended our day short up there. I wasn't quite done fishing, so I dropped him off and checked out Montour. I got there around 6 or so, and the crowd was shocked of how few cars where there, assuming a few were joggers/walkers too. Just like Yellow Creek and Little Mahoning, the water was low and gin clear. 90% of the traght were held up in 5% of the water. After hiking around for a while and checking out spots that would hold in normal flows, I decided to join the crowds in the 5% water. Although, not really the best part of the 5% at first. Luckily for me, the rain started coming down pretty hard, and ended up being the only person on the creek for the last hour or so of light. I had a fish bite or landed on every other cast for most of that time. My guess is, those able to get in the 5%, were destroying fish, those not, had a rough go. Hopefully the region gets some rain to spread the fish out a bit. I'm guessing the lakes faired much better, but likely kept a consistent crowd all day.

Thats good, was it pretty crowded with them stocking it again yesterday? I'm away at school right not but I'll be home this weekend to fish it. I was planing on doing the tournament down at Forest Grove. They usually stock some nice fish for it.

the more popular holes were well occupied...but it wasnt bad at all. this saturday will be a different story though...and I gotta say, im not happy about how the state dumped fish off the bridges to stock. freaking retarded.

Ya I have a feeling it's gonna be pretty crowded. I hope it rains pretty soon, I wouldn't mind seeing the water alittle higher and less clear. It's tough when all the fish are in a select couple pools for the most part. I left for school before they stocked so i wasn't able to see them doing that.

was there for the opener and thought it was a circus...i walked a good bit to find some open water and there were literally no fish spread out...95% of the fisherman were in the same 4-5 holes all casting to the same point catching one after another....i got one on a rapala that's it..might go down again this week if we get rain...im maybe 5 mins away

Until there is some rain, I'd expect 95% of fish to be in those pools, along with 95% of anglers. Kind of fun, if you get one of the spots, but kind of like farm pond fishing after a while. 100+ fish in a hole that should only hold 10 fish, has them competing for anything thrown in.

I'm pretty sure that is the case with most of the streams around the region. With 6" more flow and a tint to the water would open up a lot more water. A lot more fun being able to hike the stream a bit and not have to pass over spots that are usually great.

I fished robinson portion of montour run yesterday for 4-5 hours, plenty of fish...but with not much bite. fish were basically in 4-5 holes and ignored a wide variety of baits. Water was low and very clear. Plenty of fish, once the traffic slows down the bite should pick up.
