What motor do you have? If your motor does not have variable speeds, it will use a lot more power. The cheaper motors with a set number of speeds (not variable) will just eat batteries. You can get a better explanation on MinnKota or Motorguide web sites.

I get a couple days out of a Walmart battery and Minnkota 55 foot pound motor. That's pushing 1000 pounds uphill against river current.

The Endura does not have the "Maximiser" feature, so it will eat batteries faster. No way around it.

I use a interstate deep cycle also with my minnkota maximum 40 variable speed. Last for days with a couple of hours each day. Suggest a deep cycle, not a combination starting battery if you are just using it for trolling and at least a 100 to120 amp hour rating for your trolling motor. Size 27 if you have the room.

Deep cycle batteries are all about MAINTENENCE. You MUST charge them after EVERY use. Failure to do this will dramatically shorten the life of the battery. A charger with a float mode is what I've found to be best. It will fully charge the batteries, then float, only charging again if it senses a drop in voltage. If the battery is a flooded style (like the one PSU showed above), make sure the water level in the battery is good. Add distilled H2O if you find the water low. Don't over fill, that will lead to water leaking out when charging (from the pressure of charging).

Whichever brand you choose I'd stick with a AGM. Wet cells are cheaper ,but outdated technology. I prefer Optima. Get a on board charger, and use it whenever you are off the water. You will get a long charge time , and life out of your batteries.

I have had optimas in my boat since 2008. Best ive ever owned, quick charging, long lasting for multi day trips.ditto to what ready2fish and citycop have stated. STAY AWAY FROM WALMART BATTERIES. Brother had one last 6 months, the warrantied replacement last ONE MONTH. They are cheap yes, but do you want to go tjrough those problems while on a trip you made with limited time? Spend the money and enjoy you time off of work.

Stay away from Deka. Worst on earth. The warrenty is even worse. You have to take to Monroeville, an hour drive for me, only for them to tell you they couldn't find anything wrong with it. Mine is only 6 months old and wont hold a charge for more than an hour or two.
