Last time I went by about a week ago it was still drawn down. Uncle of mine was doing good on crappies and bass from his canoe though.

4 feet low........really? At that depth the launches would be unusable. Heck, some areas of that place didn't have 4 feet of water in normal conditions.

Why is it going to stay that way?

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) announced today that it will partially draw down Crawford County’s Tamarack Lake by approximately four feet in order to perform engineering investigations.
“A recent site inspection revealed seepage through the dam at the northern end of the lake,” said Dan Leonard, director of the PFBC Bureau of Engineering. “After consulting with dam safety officials at the Department of Environmental Protection, the decision was made to begin a controlled partial drawdown of the lake. We recognize the lake is a popular attraction, but we must ensure first and foremost that the facility remains safe for public use.”

Fished Tamarack a little bit yesterday evening. Didn't get anything in the lake, but decided to try the outflow out(southern end) and caught a bunch of crappie and 2 perch fly fishing with white conehead buggers. All fish were real small.

We fished Tamarack a few weeks back trying for some muskies. The lake was drawn down the entire 4 foot, yet didn't appear to be too crazy. We were expecting to see half the lake exposed and for all the fished to be stacked on top of each other, but really all it looks like is 10-15 yards of extra shore-line. Ended up not seeing/catching a single fish, pretty disapointing. I've fished there a couple times with hardly ever any luck. I know there are tons of muskie in there, but no idea where to find good numbers.
