Donegal 1st day

A buddy of mine cant walk well for a long period of time and has bad balance do to his disease.and wants to take my boat up saturday and i have never launched on opening day or even been to a lake.Can any give me some info on what time to be there so i can launch somewhat early?Also i prob can carry my boat to the water is this allowed or do i have to use the launch?

    in all honesty, i'd launch your boat now. you can easily get to the launch. it's in the main lot. if it's like the past 30 years, there will be more lines in the water than there are fish. i've seen guys sit for hours out in their boats, waiting to start. donegal is one of the heaviest stocked lakes in that area. almost every local will be there. i wouldn't be surprised to see people waiting at 5am. the deep water is to the left of the launch, also 90% of the guys fishing from shore will be to the left of the launch. good luck

    Last year I was on a boat at Donegal. Miserable morning. Until 8 there were only maybe a dozen of boats. 10:30 they were just about all gone. Caught my biggest trout ever that morning though. Its going to be a beautiful day. Get there early and watch the madness on shore while you drink your coffee and eat breakfast.
