Memories

Since opening day is right around the corner I am curious to hear some great/funny stories from past opening days.

I will never forget a few years ago a gentleman was fishing with his grandson next to me and while they were fishing their stringer got loose and the fish started to swim away, next thing I see is the grandson swimming through the entire hole looking for his fish...what some people will do for a few trout

I was fishing, after opening day and ended up getting my limit because a stringer with 5 trout came and hit me in the leg, couldn't really complain.

And 2 years ago on opening day I didn't catch anything, who doesn't catch something on opening day? there are countless starving trout in front of you on opening day and I still managed to catch nothing

When I was a kid i got my first pair of waders and my Dad was really worried about me falling in because the creek was high and muddy...like they always used to be on the opening. He ended up going head first down a bank into a deep hole and we had to leave before catching any fish.

While in kindergarden my mom had a tailor make me a fishing vest out of a pair of my jeans..along with size 6 womens waders I was set...had mores pictures takin of me than # of fish I caught...lol...25 years later at the same spot I seen a big golden hanging by a rock...casted just about everything in my vest and he wouldnt move...decided to try a snap bean...short casted it but he made a attempt...next cast was perfect and he nailed it...23"....my new brother in law asked me to walk it up to him so he could see it...while standing there I said mind if I cast this once..(he was fishing there for a bit)...said no feel free...i casted and bang...fought it a sec and seen him roll...few minutes later...another golden 21"....back to back...great day!

Been fishing that spot every year since I was 5 with my pap...he passed 2 years ago and I miss him dearly but I know he fishes with me every time im out....i will be there tomorrow as well....
    Good luck all...tight lines...be safe
