1st day of trout

Whats is all about for you? Its not so much about taking the first cast for me as it is how ill spend the time before. Its about the people ill be spending my time with beforehand. I look forward to sitting by the camp fire sharing stories of fishing and hunting trips from the past, and are classic argument of what bait to choose for the first cast as for me its usually a minnow. I'm interested in what you guys/girls traditions are before the first cast. I let you in on mine, Lets hear yours?

Getting hammered fishmas eve and hammering fish on fishmas.

But I love finding the hole that holds a big one and catching it.

Waiting until 10 then heading out with a friend, should not be to bad. Next year I will setup a camping weekend. Stories and friends, can't beat it.

Its about tradition for me. Spending time with family and friends the night before, telling fish stories and whatnot. Getting up real early in the morning to get our spot on a randow ATW we fish every year for the opener, and just hanging out until 8. I fish for trout year round, as a matter of fact I even caught some trout yesterday and the day before(special regs sections obviously), but opening day is always special. I always fly fish for trout nowadays, but on the opener I always throw live minnows on a spinning outfit. I hate fishing with crowds, thats why I love fishing those tiny wild brookie streams, but I usually end up fishing with great people on opening day. Oh and its always a blast watching the little ones getting into their first fish.

    I'll be sleeping in.

I'll wait until the second or third week and go out when nobody else is fishing.

    I'm selfish that way!!!
