I've never been there but I just G.Earth-ed it and yes that would be the side to fish. It's usually not easily accessible to fish the lock side of a dam/lock

harder to access but youre closer to the dam on the 65 side. the lock side is much easier to access but youre further down from the dam. fishing is good on both sides but 65 side is better. just sayin'

Regarding fishing the lock side, the problem right now and has been since last year, is the road in crescent township that leads to the railroad crossing that puts you on the access road to the lock where lots of guys fish from shore, has been closed because of a bad slide. The only access to the lock now, is along the railrod tracks which is railroad property and i hear the rr police? are real pricks if your caught using the road along the tracks. I understand fixing the slide will cost upwards of $250,000 which the small township doesn't have,so i don't see a fix real soon. transam ws6, i lived and fished here my whole life and never saw any fisherman chased who were fishing from shore when the road was open. I have seen some cars and guys fishing there lately, but i think you may be taking a chance doing so? Good luck and good fishing.

I'm not sure why there would be a problem with the rr police on the route 65 side. Everyone who fishes from shore where little sewickley creek runs in the river, parks behind the last bldg closest to the dam in buncher industrial park. They say the owner of that bldg doesn't mind. I see people fishing there quite often, it's a popular place and fishing is good certain times of the year.

I thought the spot in question was right next to the ****, not the spot a 1/4 mile downriver where the stream runs in. Never had trouble down there.

If the question is, are you allowed to fish off that concrete wall attached to the dam, i believe thats off limits. Many years ago some numnuts jumped off that wall into the river and injured themselves. The rip rap below the wall down to little sewickley creek would be ok, providing you didn't cross the rr tracks to get there. I guess thats what transam is talking about regarding the police. Sorry about the confusion.
