PHWFF Our First Outing

We are going to be taking some of the guys fishing on April 14th on the Peninsula at the Ponds....

S.O.N.S. along with the DAV Is putting on this Event and we were invited to take some guys along...

I don't know how many are going I'm going to guess between 8 and 12...

I'm looking for some Volunteers to help out .... All we need is a few fisherman or woman to go fishing with them....

If you think you can give a few hours of your time please let me know either on this thread or through a PM

I know its the first day of Trout but I know to some of us that doesn't mean anything so you can get out and be doing a good thing at the same time.....

I'll know more next Wed after me have our tying session at the VA Hospital

I want to supply them with food and drink for the day also...

OK Here is the Game plan... Keep in mind there WILL Be audibles called all day

PHWFF Is all about Fly Fishing as I'm sure you know so I plan on talking to the Vets in the morning to see if they feel comfortable using a fly rod in a Crowd.. And there will be a Crowd..

If any of them want to use spin gear we will switch to spin gear.. After all it is about them having a good time..

Deb and I along with my Grandson are planning on being there about 7 AM.. The guys were asked to be there before 8 AM

I'll need some help in the AM Setting things up. I have to set up an information Table for PHWFF.. I have about 10 or 12 spinning rods that need set up along with about 8 flyrods or so..

I don't have a lot of Spinning terminal tackle so if you could bring some that would be great.. I am sending an email to Fishusa asking for a donation of some terminal tackle. So we might be covered.....

Eastend Angler is supplying Bait for us so I'll get that tomorrow... Yea you heard right "BAIT" Again its about them ....

Now my favorite part FOOD

I have pulled pork for everybody and I also made some Corned beef and Kraut.

Rookie Jokerball and rippinlip are bringing drinks I think its 3 Cases of soda and water..

If you want to bring anything else feel free too. I will have my camp stove there and I think I will have access to the Kitchen..

I think it would be nice to have some camp chairs for the guys to use in case they don't have any....

It looks like we will have plenty of help so if anyone wants to help out either the DAV Selling food... or the S.O.N.S they will have a bunch of kids there. That would be great..

Keep in mind we may have no shows but there is always the need for help out there on a day like this

Cameras would be great but keep in mind some of the Vets don't like pictures... If in doubt please ASK First... We always respect their
wishes..

Also keep in mind there is never any Alcoholic beverages allowed either in the Park or at ANY PHWFF Events...

I'm sure I am forgetting things so I apologize in advance. I am OLD after all


I really want to thank everybody for what they have done and what they are doing. It means a lot to me I want to make this experience wonderful for these guys even though to some its just another day out there...

We will be there with Bells on... along with Miss Jokerbelle her "first" first day of trout.....We have a huge cutting board we can bring. We will bringing any chairs we have laying around, along with a drink tub and ice, also a 6 foot plastic table for the food and anyone wanting to sit down and eat (figured the picnic tables and pavillions might be crowded) and a roll top table for the camp stove....See everyone in the AM!

I'll be there and have the FISHUSA banner and their tackle donation for the event.

Just came across this thread. I think it's really great what you guys are doing tomorrow. Hopefully there will be some follow up with the success?

Deetz could of not said it any better. The smile on the Vets faces are priceless.....I am excited to remain on this journey with Skip and the rest of you....including helping, the vets, kids, and any other folks that don't always get the oppurtunity to fish.......

I agree about the fish commision guys, I actually have never seen them in action doing the fun part of the job, and each one was patient with the kids, and had a huge smile on their faces when a kid caught one, and then to top it off, ask questions about it! Wonderful
