I use the same rods for cat and carp ...just rigged different, i use a 6# flourocarbon 36" leader for the carp.... i dont have line alarms i use a 3/4 oz river sinker with a wire bent in a U i hang it at the end of my pole to tell if the carp pick up the bait and come in....
