Do you need to park near where you're gonna put in or are you being dropped off? The road runs right up against the river in Jacobs Creek.

The parking area for the bike trail goes to the beach.  You have to drag or carry about 80 yards to hit the water, but it's open.

There is a gravel boat launch just downstream from smithton. It is on the eastern side of the river opposite bike trail and just south of I70 bridge. If you get off smithton exit from 70 take fitz henry rd past truck stop, levins, and****s wharehouse.

Dragging the boat on multch or grass is fine... rocks/gravel not fine

i'd like to have parking within walking distance for running a shuttle

H20- thanks... having trouble seeing that on the map... unless its the dirt road right next to a house as the road bends to run along the river

I saw what looks like a dirt road right after the bridge at the train tracks
if you are going to smithton...left turn right before the tracks

You can park and launch from there. You can get real close to the river here. Esp when river is low.

If you go through town across the tracks where the 4 or 5 "parking" spots are on the right side of the road heading towards Jacobs Creek (RT. 3029?)....the largest cleared parking spot is often used as a launch for yaks and canoes. There's room for 5 or 6 cars and it's maybe 30-40' to the river. Not a steep drop either. People are always launching or being picked up there when I'm fishing the area.

Google maps says it's nightman lane... follow that over the tracks, dirt road along the tree line and your there. Like aranbp said your right next to the river. Back your vehicle down and your in.

You can drive right to the water, under the Smithton bridge, on the east side. Turn off at the edge of the bridge, between the bridge and rr tracks.
