I use rat l traps quite a bit and found you can fish them several different ways. One of the 2 ways that work best for me is just a constant retrieve once it sinks to the desired depth. You can reel it fast or slow depending on what you think the fish want. The other is similar but instead of a constant retrieve I just pull it and reel the slack line. I'd say this technique works better than just a steady retrieve...at least for me it does. I think lipless cranks are a good lure to cover alot of water in a fairly short amount of time, much like a spinnerbait.
