Kahle, Spring fishing

Has anyone been on Kahle yet? I'm dying to get out but haven't had the time yet. I'd like to hear some good fishing stories so that I can live vicariously through those who have had the opportunities to go out!

What do you target? I caught massive gills and some hefty slabs there all last summer. I can't wait to get the boat out. Last year I watched an older fella in waders limit out in an hour. He was only keeping big ones. It's a great lake.

Most boats are launching off the venango side, there was a trailer on the south side on Thursday.

I'm gonna fish more and work less.

I was going to go to Kahle last weekend, but I ended up going to Mahoning instead. This was on 3/25. We had a banner day. The three of us kept a limit apiece. None of the crappie that we kept was under 12" and none of the perch was under 11". We couldn't keep them off of our hooks. I also caught a 30" channel cat on 4lb test with a 5' UL rod. It took me 45 minutes to land this fish! We had to chase it with the trolling motor. What an excellent day on the water. I don't know if you guys know this or not, but they drop the water level at Mahoning by 22' during the cold season. This means that you have the same amount of fish in half of the water! The fish finder was going crazy! I can't wait to go back out. This weekend it will either be Mahoning, Kahle, or Pymie. It depends on the weather.

slabdaddy:can you use the Milton launch on MAhoning? i haven,t been to the old launch since they revamped it in the 90,s. can you use it with the water down to winter pool(-22 ft.)? how much parking? as said, only go when milton Loop is usable. love that lake.

Nope. You can't use Milton when it's down to winter pool. You can only use the old boat launch. If you need directions or tips, let me know. Where are you from?
