Any ponds or pay lakes around Pittsburgh or SW PA worth hitting with kids looking for action?

That's pretty general. What part of SW PA or the Pittsburgh area would you ideally be looking?

I meant generally....i fish all over western pa (Cross Creek to Erie), so driving doesn't bother me, but ideally Allegheny, WestM or Washington county i guess.

Who's Jimmy? I kind of figured driving wasn't an issue. That really wasn't what I was asking. I was thinking if you're taking kids along then it's probably best to find something local to where you live, rather than a 3 county radius.

The 84 lakes are about 15 minutes east of Washington off Rt. 136, there pretty close to me but i never fished em, kids in high school used to rave about that place tho.

Paradise Lakes isn't that great, but for kids it's hard to beat. They have a little kids pond that stock HEAVILY with trout. www.paradiselakes.net

Peters lake park in Peters Twp. is very kid friendly. Easy to walk around and find different spots. It has sun fish, carp bass and maybe some trout. (not sure about the trout). Just behind the PT HS google earth it.

If you are not intrested in paying to fish,I would suggest going to Twin Lakes or any of the lakes in the area that are open to fishing. Make sure that you have a trout stamp. I think that you still need one.Fish are hitting well, panfish just started to turn on,gills ,crappie,& perch,plus trout.Lots of people walking,but not so many fishing.Kid friendly,with restrooms,playgrounds,plus open shorelines. Also paddle boats are now being rented. sam

Peters isn't that great IMO. Even for panfish. If you can find a farm pond near you, you can get the kids into tons of panfish. If you want to private message me, I can let you know where a few are in Washington and Greene counties.

I agree Peters is not a lake I would take a young angler to get hooked on fishing, however there are many local ponds that have nice blue gill and bass. Canonsburg lake is relaxing and there is room there to teach casting. Just throw some powerbait on the bottom can't go wrong there.
