Who Has Actually Been Fishing

What in the world is going on...

Is anybody, anywhere, doing any fishing in SW PA?

If so, talk about it. I'll start.

Fished Indiana County Sunday, got skunked, friend caught 2.

Haven't done any fishing lately. I'm hoping to get out this weekend somewhere.

I caught a walleye yesterday, river was about the highest I've ever waded/fished it. Actually waded past about a 10" smallie or rock bass in shin deep water 30ft from where shore normally is. He didn't want the 5" creek chub hanging off my jig though.

Fished the Connemaugh backwater/Bow ridge area Friday, cold, windy and high water but found several pockets of small perch (all returned), my buddy caught a small channel.  Sunday one trout from KSP on a Joe's fly.  I've recently bought a Hummingbird Fishin' Buddy and wanted to goof around with it on the canoe.  The sidescan was useful for finding the perch.  It indicated several fish near the dam at KSP.  I was at Duck Hollow about a week ago and saw the new canoe/kayak launch, looks pretty nice.

I've caught a few carp and channel cats on the nice days.

Walked around Deer Lakes park this morning, saw a couple frogs and the ubiquitous Canada geese.

New to the area but have been fishing twin lakes. Mostly lower with little luck. Everytime I go its blowing 50 out so it kinda sucks. Still trying to figure the fishing out, been out three times using marabou jigs and maggots and fly fishing one day for a total of 1 trout. Been slow but we'll see maybe the upper lake is better?

If I agreed with you we’d both be wrong.

Twin Lakes can be so hit or miss for trout...I don't get it sometimes.

Upper Conemaugh has produced some perch for me in the past years, I wonder what is going on with that boat launch out past Clarksburg? Last time I saw it it was Gated off and under water.

Have the delayed harvest's been fishing any good? Haven't been out to Loyalhanna or any further south for awhile.

The most success I've ever had at Twin Lakes was at the lower lake on Powerbait. It was on these stupid things that I had in my box.

Honestly, I don't know why people down powerbait. It is just as killer for steelhead sometimes, too.

I don't put it down, I just don't use it because I figure a lot of others are, thus the fish are seeing it quite often.

I'm going to be heading out to twin lakes tomorrow too and possibly this weekend, I want to get out on a paddle boat and drag around a joe fly to see what I can catch out in the middle, hopefully something bigger than 10" lol

Btw if anybody thought about trying out berkley nanofil line, do it. I love it so far, It really does cast twice as far. I was throwing a little suspending minnow to try something different and this line threw it amazingly far for how light and little the lure was

Loomis, I fished a long day Sunday in Somerset Co. Also skunked, though I was up top the whole time, and missed two (on consecutive casts, no less ).

I'll be out probably every evening through Friday now, then Saturday, the closest I'll come to fishing will be crossing the Mon between Market Square and the Southide.

Too bad PA has us on trout season lockdown...this week would be a perfect time for me to check out a few possible carp spots I marked on my Google Earth...

Was out last sunday in the freezing cold, caught one trout and helped stock today and landed three. Never stocked before, thought it was pretty cool.

fished some dhalo in the laurel highlands. we did well. but it did get old catching 8-12 inch rainbows over and over. im grateful to not get skunked, but it was like the same fish 15 times in a row. did miss a nice one because i suck at flyfishing :/

Been fishing West Virginia just across the border from Greene and Fayette counties. They have no closed season on Trout and stock weekly from January - June, posting the updated stocking list every day. More water, higher limit and bigger trout than PA stocks too. Well worth the money for the out of state license.

That's one of the main things they use down south in the big tailwater fisheries. Don't knock it. That's where several world record trout come from.
