anyone fishing Yellow Creek for Walleyes?

Having just finished my boat mid-last year, this is the first early season for it. I see Yellow Creek listed at Walleye waters, has anyone fished it? I know it's a small hp lake, I thought I would go out and electric motor around. Also wondering if there is any sort of a launch to get in the boat this time of year without getting in the water.

Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn.

The docks are not up yet, but try the launch on the south side past the park office, i think it is steeper than the others. Have not really fished it for eyes but they are in there, i have caought a few by accident there.

For what it's worth... I used to fish the lake a good bit from shore (15+ years ago). Only walleye that I caught were below the dam, and under 12". The lake has a great population of pike and large mouth. We always did well on pike in the Spring and Fall. Almost always 22"-23". Had a few, just above 24", which made for some good college kid eats! I can't say that I have heard much of it being a great walleye lake. I'm sure the locals know how to get them. If anything like the lake that I frequent, tight lips on eyes...

i was fishing from shore just last friday, water temp was 40 but the weather was nasty so no pike. Last fall i pulled some bottom bouncers around for eyes to see if i could figure it out for eyes but i got nothing.

The eye's are in there but i have been fishing it off and on for 20+ years and never caught one. Large mouth, small mouth, pike and musky, yes, eye's no. Might do better at Keystone Power Dam Lake...and it's not that far from Yellow Creek Lake.

It is yet another lake that suffers from straw-hat depletion.

    Yes, we are still here!

Man, I'm glad that I asked. Dragging the boat out of mothballs and not catching anything on a rainy day would not be ideal.

Have fished there 20+ years as well during open water, and a dozen times on the ice. Daytime pike, smallies, and large mouth. Night time channels and bulls. Never saw anyone land a walleye. In the early 90's Don's bait and tackle off of 403 was a common stop on my way to the lake. He had a few small ponds with trout in them and one pond with a pretty big walleye that was said to have been taken at Yellow Creek. Go the KPD or the Allegheny River.

If close to you, I would definitely give it a shot. This time of the year should be great for pike, if they aren't spawning. If it is still prespawn, they will be active. If anything like when I fished there, they were smaller, but still a lot of fun, and cool looking fish. Make sure you take pliers...
