You believe in just 4 days time over 900 fish were caught? Let me say that again...900 fish!

If everything is right, I absolutely believe it's possible.

Ironhed

That's good. We're all entitled to our opinions. It appears many people (at least the ones voicing their opinion) don't think it's possible. Ironhed do you think it would even be fun though to literally catch that many fish in such short time (if it were possible)?

I think I'd get bored quick catching that many. Duud must be a lil nuts. "pics or it didn't happen" - that may take a while to load...

I think I'd get bored as well. At some point it would seem like work taking off all the fish. I'm guessing this is assumed that one presentation method was tied on early in the morning and never needed anything replaced (no snags, deep hooks, etc.)

I've been told that Frank wears a wrist band like an NFL QB, and records each catch on it as he goes. I believe this is true.

So now we know who kastmaster-"102 suckers in an hour"-pro had as his sensei during his training.

No pics, I just want to see a video of prime time on his prime stream to see how he's managing that kind of rate.

Then, let's go to a local branch of Little Stinking Creek and see what's up.

Not saying he's lying, arrogant, or anything else...just that as a skeptic, I'm skeptical.

I read the journal also,   He wrote,

"I'm especially proud of my 1679 day streak of averaging over 100 trout per outing since 1993".

"Catching over 10,000 trout in a year like I had done nine times between 1998-2007".

I'm sorry, I just can't buy into that.    B.S.

I find it funny...not only the amount of Nale haters, but also
that there are almost double the posts on this thread, than the original post Frank made on HPA.

I guess the humor's lost on me...

...probably has something to do with the number of active members on each site and that this one is devoted to fishing.

But I guess if you find it so hilarious, more power to ya...

"My best day yielded 222 wild browns and one stocked rainbow in 10.50 hours".

223 fish / 10.5 hours = 21.23 fish per hour

60 mins / 21.23 fish per hour = 1 fish every 2.8 minutes

Total B.S., the math just isn't in his favor - You would have to catch fish at that rate from sun up to sun down non-stop. If you had to walk between holes, change a leader, change a lure, take a leak, eat, or drink at anytime during the day; Then you would have to increase your catch rate to even faster than 1 fish every 2.8 minutes to make up for the lost time.

Also you would have to land all 223 fish without loosing a single one, or once again increase your catch rate for each fish you lost to make up for it.

For those who have been around these sites long enough, there is a long Nale history that always repeats itself when a yuear end summary is posted. I agree, hillarious. He gets haters riled up for sure.

He doesn't walk. He treats his fishing like an athletic endurance event, nearly constant motion, no kidding.

He must be fishing in the trenches at the hatchery, or the tribs after they put the smolt in.

So how is he going to catch trout at the rate of 1 every 2.8 minutes, by fishing every inch of water no matter what the depth or holding properties are like? lol

Well if he's catching his numbers at spring creek in center country, like someone in this thread said, then I'd be willing to see it for a few hours sometime. Might just sign up for an account on that other site and ask him about getting schooled someday.

I'm very familiar with the Benner Springs area behind the Nittany Mall and the new section owned by the prison that just opened up above fisherman's paradise, as well as fishing creek in center county which is loaded with wild browns.

i can see other people on the creek seeing him coming and just getting out of his way. his yellow blinker lite flashing upon his beenie cap. he's flipping trout out, 1 every 2.8 minutes, measuring them and releasing them from them treble hooks and writing in his journel, time inclusive. never getting a snag, never see him fail! sounds like the 'pinball wizard!'

Because many people haven't had days with numbers like that, imo.

No it wasn't fun then and I see no reason why it would be fun now.

I have a question for ya...how long do you think it takes to bring a 8"-10" trout to hand after it is hooked? 10 seconds? 30 seconds? 1 minute?

that apparently never dull because there isn't enough time to change a lure....better pick the best color early in the morning or he might risk catching under 200 fish.... (insert fart noise).....

Wouldn't that depend on the line and rod being used, flow and depth of the water that day, and how far out you hook it? I think it could take 10 seconds or could take a couple minutes depending on all of those variables.

The great thing about sports like fishing, is that everyone's idea of "fun" is different.

Everyone's motivation for fishing is different.

For the size trout we are talking about here...............less than five seconds.

well, it's good his lures only pick out those small trout. doesn't sound like a spinner much for big fish than.
i caught some wild browns in spring over the weekend and they were bigger'n 10".

OMG, I just Googled his name and found a picture of Frank Nale. I've seen and talked to this guy on spring creek before. He was spinner fishing the small metal tunnel coming out of the Benner Spring hatchery next to the foot bridge crossing spring creek when you first walk in. Talked to him for about 5 mins or so on my way out one day, he actually stopped me and told me I was the first person he ever saw that was going to fish that side tube. There's colder water coming out of the hatchery through the tube and a couple big 18 - 20" trout are almost always laying just up inside or right in front of it. Always worth a try on the way out, just before leaving.

This guy definitely has experience and knew what he was talking about, no doubt he can catch fish, but I didn't see him catch a single trout in the 15 mins or so that was fishing below him! He seemed liked a character, telling me about meeting and fishing with George Harvey at that same location, and getting into other old stories about spring creek.

I still don't believe he's really having 200+ fish days on a regular basis though, the math just doesn't work.
